Nepalese Chicken Momo
This recipe is a Nepali recipe. It is a simple, quick and healthy steamed dumpling recipe. I have made three recipes: the chicken filling, the dough, and the sauce to dip into. Follow my recipe step by step and you will have the perfect momos for that perfect snack.
Ingredients

Cooking time 20-25 minutes
Serves 4-5 people
For chicken filling
Ingredients
1kg chicken breast minced
3 onions chopped
Fresh coriander
3 spring onions chopped
Salt
Ginger 1 tablespoon
Garlic 5 chopped
Chilli optional
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 stock cubes
30ml water
20ml oil
1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
For the momo dough
2 cups of plain flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
100ml water
20mls oil
For the dipping sauce
3 fresh tomato
5 dried red chillies
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
1/2 black pepper
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons oil
3 garlic chopped
1 small onion
20ml water (if sauce gets too thick)
Method
1. In a clean bowl add all your ingredients to the chicken mince and leave overnight, you can use the chicken mixture immediately if you can’t wait.
2. For the dough add your ingredients to your plain flour and set aside.
3. For your sauce boil water and add your tomato and chillies, and let them soften. Once cooked remove and blend your tomato and chillies until puréed.
4. In a pan pour some oil and add the onions and garlic sauté until translucent.
5. Pour the tomato and chillies mixture into the onions and garlic add your remaining ingredients soy sauce, black pepper, vinegar, tomato ketchup and sugar and mix well. Allow it the simmer. Pour the sauce into a bowl.
6. Take a small amount of dough and roll it into a ball.
7. Roll it using a rolling pin, into a small circle.
8. Fill your dough with a teaspoon amount of the chicken mixture. Keep doing this until you have enough for everyone to have.
9. You will definitely need to have a steamer for this recipe. Oil your pan and add water to the bottom pan. Once the water has boiled. Place the dumplings in, cover and steam for at least 20-25 minutes. Once steamed and cooked through serve your dumplings momos immediately.
