Apple Crumble
This is an easy apple crumble. Traditionally, apple crumble is made with Bramley cooking apples; these apples are very sour to eat and you will need a lot of sugar to sweeten the apples for cooking. In my recipe I am using ripe Royal Gala apples as these are naturally sweeter and you will need to add less sugar. Once baked the apple crumble is served with custard. This recipe is so easy and so delicious.
Ingredients
7 Royal Gala apples (peeled and chopped)
50g sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
70g margarine
150g plain flour
2 tablespoons water
25g sugar (for the topping)
Method
1. Peel and wash the apples.
2. Then slice the apples, place the apples into a pan.
3. Add your sugar and cinnamon and cook until soft.
4. In a bowl sieve the flour, then add margarine and sugar and crumble with your fingers.
5. In an ovenproof dish place your cooked apples, then sprinkle the crumble mixture over the top of the cooked apples.
6. Now sprinkle some sugar over the crumble before baking in the oven.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 160 C/ Gas Mark 3 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Serve with custard and enjoy!
