Singaporean Style Sweet Chilli Prawns
This spicy but sweet prawns, is a recipe that I tried when I visited Singapore. If you love Singapore chilli crab then you will certainly love this recipe. It is full of flavour and you will definitely be addicted to it.
This dish will have a mild spicy flavour with a hint of sweetness, the prawns flavour will not be too spicy, just enough. The colour of the sauce added will create a fiery hot dish but the flavours are mild enough for everyone to eat.
Please try out the recipe, you won’t be disappointed.
Ingredients
500g raw prawns
2 medium onions
1 tbsp fresh ginger
1 1/2 tbsp fresh garlic
3 spring onions
Fresh coriander leaves (handful)
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
1 teaspoon chilli powder
1 fresh red chilli
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
3 tbsp sunflower oil or oil of your choice but not olive oil
Method
1. Clean and de-vein your prawns.
2. In a bowl mix the wet ingredients: sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and the chilli powder, then set aside.
3. Heat up your wok, and pour about 3 tbsp of oil.
4.When the oil is hot add your ginger, garlic, onions and fresh chilli, let this fry until golden brown.
5. Add your wet ingredients, and let it cook for about 30 seconds or so.
6. Add your raw prawns, stir fry together until cooked, do not overcook your prawns, otherwise they will become very rubbery.
7. Once done add your spring onions and garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve this with basmati rice and fresh salad. Enjoy!
